Design Committee Updates

The GE Design Committee worked deep into the fall to create a proposal for general education based on the learning outcomes developed during summer. Particular attention was paid to meeting the charge given to the committee regarding identity, commonality, efficiency, and simplicity in a revised GE program. Subcommittees composed of GE Design Committee members and other faculty from around campus representing every college researched, debated, and made proposals for the different parts of the model. These proposals were voted on by the entire GE Design Committee, and a final proposal was approved for a revised GE program November 2020. This proposal has now gone to the Faculty GE Committee that will prepare it to be reviewed, vetted, and submitted for official approval. During the winter 2021 semester, each college will have the opportunity to review the new GE proposal and offer feedback.
