University Core Requirements

UNIVERSITY CORE

The University Core comprises five categories: Doctrinal Foundation; The Individual and Society; Skills; Arts, Letters, and Sciences; and Core Enrichment: Electives.

Your college advisement center and the University Catalog/Class Schedule should be your source for current University Core requirements and the courses that will fulfill them. To access the interactive online Class Schedule, click here.

For students who are on the old (pre-2004) General Education program, you can access the old requirement and course list here .

FOUNDATION DOCUMENTS

To gain approval to meet a GE requirement, a course is subjected to a rigorous evaluation by a special faculty council. Such approval is not granted lightly, and students should ensure that the courses they select are, in fact, approved for GE credit. Foundation Documents give the rationale for the various requirements as well as the objectives and learning outcomes for the various GE requirements. OTHER INFORMATION

Click here to see the Student FAQs page that answers most students' questions; however, be sure to check with your advisement center for more detailed information about specific questions related to your major and how GE courses enhance that major. GE requirements are slightly different for different majors. This is important information to know should you change your major.
